A premier destination on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Kawana Waters is most famous for its reputation as the regional sport and entertainment precinct on the Sunshine Coast. Situated between Noosa and Brisbane, some of Australia’s best surfing beaches line the 12 kilometres of coastline. Growth is expected to continue amongst local residents, businesses and visitors in the area with recently completed surrounding facilities such as the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Sunshine Coast University, Kawana Shopping Centre and current expansion of the domestic Sunshine Coast Airport to an international airport. Kawana Waters is one of the Sunshine Coast’s main retail precincts and offers all the air-conditioned retail outlets you would find in a more urban environment, yet the beautiful coastline is right at your doorstep.
Kawana Sports Precinct
Kawana Sports Precinct consists of Sunshine Coast Stadium with its High Performance Training Facility, the Western Sports Fields (a 3 minute drive from the Stadium), Lake Kawana and the Kawana Aquatic Centre. The area has been designated with a range of integrated sports facilities to create optimal training, training camp, educational and community activities for all ages, abilities and areas associated with promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and importantly supporting sports rehabilitation requirements.
The atmosphere at Lake Kawana is shaped by the local, national and international activities that take place in and around the water. Many developments surround this vast area of water with building views from each aspect including residential units, accommodation, professional office blocks, light industrial and commercial premises, wherein many of the local residents or office workers utilise the many running or cycling paths and enjoy on the water activities.
Kawana Beach spans 9 kilometres, being one of the Sunshine Coast’s longest beaches stretching from its north being Point Cartwright and south to Currimundi Lake. Kawana Surf Life Saving Club is centrally located and a 5km drive from the High Performance Sports & Community Hub.
The Kawana Sports Precinct is located within the suburb of Bokarina, just over 80kms or an hours drive north of Brisbane, Queensland. It is a 20 minute drive from the southern end of the Sunshine Coast (Caloundra area), a 50 minute drive from the northern end of the Sunshine Coast (Noosa area), and a 20 minute drive from Nambour (west and along the train network).
